The impact of social isolation on Hypnotherapy Training by CPHT Leeds

If you are considering a hypnotherapy training course, you may be worried about the Covid-19 situation. You may be concerned that if it is held online, it may not be as effective as a face to face course. We decided to answer seven of the most popular questions here, to reassure your concerns.

Will the next training course be an online course in part or wholly?

When we get the go-ahead from the Government, our course will return to being run as a face-to-face course as originally planned. This will be held in the Blue Room at Leeds Trinity University in Horsforth. However, at the moment we are not completely sure when that will be, so we are preparing for both eventualities. As the next course doesn’t start until September 2020. We are hopeful that we will be seeing students in person for the majority of the course, if not all of it.

Surely an online course won’t be as good as a face-to face course?

Live Video Conferencing

It’s important to make the distinction between an online course and a live video conference. When most people talk about an online course, they usually refer to having access to a number of videos that can be viewed online, at a time to suit them. There would normally be some written material to go with the videos and very little practical work. CPHT Leeds run interactive courses online using the live video conferencing platform Zoom. We have two tutors available to answer your questions at all times during the weekend. We do everything that we would normally do in our face-to-face training sessions. This includes demonstrating the skills you will need and watching you practice those skills with fellow students. The weekend modules are very practical, full of variety, fun and entertaining.

How can the students practice the skills on each other in a video conference?

Zoom offers a break-out room facility, it enables us to pair students together to practice their skills. Caron and Jenny, the tutors, are able to pop into each room to see how you’re getting on and to offer  advice.

Will the qualification be considered as good as it would have been had I attended the course in person?

The short answer is yes. At the start of social isolation, CPHT got in touch with the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) who got together with the Complementary & National Healthcare Council (CNHC). The NCH and CNHC are actively involved in shaping the standards and future of hypnotherapy in the UK. Both organisations have granted dispensation to all those courses being run during the Covid-19 outbreak to be held online. They have assured us that graduates during this time will obtain the same level of accreditation as those who have attended face-to-face training sessions previously.

You say that there will be a lot of variety, but we’ll be staring at a screen for two full days at a time, that can’t be fun surely?

Our face-to-face sessions use a variety of teaching styles to hold the attention of the students, as any good quality course would do. The same practice applies to our online sessions. We incorporate a mix of video, power point, lecturer-led and small group activities for the students.  This is supplemented by practical work between modules, just as it would be were we to meet in person. Breaks are held at regular intervals, to allow students to get up and move around.

Will the course be any cheaper if it is held online?

The price of the course is to enable you to take advantage of obtaining the two qualifications on offer with CPHT Leeds. The DSFH (Diploma in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy) and the HPD (Hypnotherapy in Practice Diploma). We know that some of our costs will reduce if a course is held  online, while other costs will inevitably increase. You, however, will probably find it cheaper & less time-consuming to attend training via a live video conference. This is due to less traveling with potentially fewer accommodation costs.

Have you held a course online like this before?

Yes, the current training course (LS4) started out with students attending a local venue, as had always been the case before the Covid-19 situation. After module 7 we had to move to live video conference sessions using Zoom. After some initial trepidation on hearing that we would need to move to online training, the students fully embraced the experience. They were heard to state after the module that it had been just as good as if they attended the module in person.

How CPHT Leeds Hypnotherapy Training alleviates phobias

CPHT Hypnotherapy Training

Students at CPHT Leeds Hypnotherapy Training are finding that they are not short of clients to practice on to help with fear of flying at this time of year.

Fear of flying, or “Aerophobia” to give it its correct title, is actually on the increase even though statistics tell us that flying is the safest mode of travel.  In fact, it seems that as many as half of us have some kind of fear around flying and air travel, although not all of these would be classed as a full-blown phobia.
